The Glory” Actor Jung Sung Il Reveals He Continued Delivery Work Despite Drama’s Success

Actor Jung Sung Il, widely recognized for his role in Netflix’s hit series The Glory, has revealed that he continued working part-time as a delivery driver even after the drama’s global success.

Appearing on the August 22 broadcast of The Jun Hyun Moo Project 2, Jung candidly explained that although he received his performance fee, it “wasn’t a huge or life-changing amount.” He admitted he still needed to work additional jobs to support his livelihood.

Jung’s remarks highlighted the challenges faced by many actors behind the scenes. He began his acting career in his early 20s, leaving university and moving to Seoul to pursue theater. During those years, he relied on a series of part-time jobs—including valet parking, café shifts, bartending, and late-night wine bar work—to make ends meet. He acknowledged that in his 30s he often questioned whether he could sustain himself solely through acting.

At the time of The Glory’s filming, Jung was preparing for his role in the film The Murderer’s Report, which required him to lose weight, dropping to around 66 kilograms. On the recent broadcast, he noted that he is now working on restoring his health and appetite.

Despite his rise to fame—earning the nickname “Hot Ahjussi” from fans worldwide—Jung Sung Il chose to remain grounded, continuing everyday delivery shifts rather than relying solely on unstable acting income. His story underscores the financial uncertainty that persists for many actors, regardless of screen success.
