‘Our Youth’ Actor Kenshin Kamimura on Trial in Hong Kong for Indecent Assault
Japanese actor and former J-pop idol Kenshin Kamimura appeared in a Hong Kong court this week, facing charges of indecent assault following an incident involving a female interpreter earlier this year.
The alleged assault took place on March 2, 2025, during a dinner in Mong Kok after a fan event. According to the prosecution, Kamimura, 25, repeatedly touched the interpreter’s thigh without her consent. The woman, who had worked as an interpreter for the event, later filed a police report, prompting an investigation and Kamimura’s arrest.
Kamimura, known for his role in the Japanese BL drama Our Youth and as a former member of the boy band ONE N’ ONLY, pleaded not guilty during his appearance at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court. He was reportedly emotional throughout the proceedings, visibly shaking and crying as the charges were read.
The courtroom was filled with over 170 supporters, many of them fans from Japan, mainland China, and Hong Kong. Security was tight due to the high-profile nature of the case.
Following the incident, Kamimura’s agency, Stardust Promotion, terminated his contract, citing a serious violation of internal policies. He was also dismissed from ONE N’ ONLY shortly after the arrest.
Kamimura has been released on HK$100,000 bail and is required to remain in Hong Kong for the duration of the trial. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison under Hong Kong law.
The trial is scheduled to continue over three days, beginning July 30, 2025. No verdict has been reached at this time.
